Israel is one of the world leaders in the field of medicine. I recently completed a fellowship in laparoscopic abdominal surgery in this country, and it was an event that expanded my professional competence and enriched the experience of colleagues from a country leading in the field of clinical surgery.
My internship took place in Beer Sheva, where the largest medical centers in Israel are located – Soroka University Medical Center Faculty of Health Sciences, Ben Gurion University and Assuta Hospital. Internship directors provide a unique opportunity to observe from the inside the work of highly professional doctors of these centers and evaluate the system of organizing their activities. The acquired experience and knowledge of Israeli colleagues make it possible to apply modern surgical methods for the benefit of our patients.
The work was organized systematically, from the first hours I participated in events structured intelligently and consistently, this allowed me to become a full-fledged part of the team and contribute to all processes of preparing and conducting surgical interventions, including participation in complex laparoscopic operations on the abdominal organs.
The program also includes monitoring patients and recording results. Israeli specialists speak several languages, including English and Russian; when translation problems did arise, the organizers provided the assistance of professional translators. The internship provided an impressive layer of information about the latest methods of laparoscopic operations, introduced me to the latest surgical equipment, and strengthened my knowledge of the evidence-based and statistical part of the process.
All of this has undoubtedly had a positive impact on my clinical work.
